Final Fantasy XIV Gameplay
by thursdasy on Aug.19, 2009, under Final Fantasy 14, Gaming
Well it’s finally out some game play footage of FFXIV you can check it out here:
1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XK_Marh_uS4
2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eu3wrXBaRKA
It was released at Gamescon in Germany.
From what I can see I think the UI is going to look totally different when it’s released. Just like with WAR the UI looked way different and I think better in the alpha but when it was released it look more WoW style which was kinda annoying. I liked it better when it had its own unique look and style. Anyway back to FFXIV, the gameplay looks pretty fun nothing new looks the same as every MMO. The physics behind the game play look a bit fucked, he is constantly standing in the target and not in front of it, the selection looks like a cash shop mmo with those triangle shaped things floating around the target. It looks like they really didn’t introduce anything new but lets wait and see how it turns out in release.
Ill update this post with further details later when I’m not super tired and need to get to bed and sleep for work in the morning.
Final Fantasy XIV Offical Page Launch
by thursdasy on Aug.07, 2009, under Final Fantasy 14, Gaming
Well the offical FFXIV page is up! Now it isn’t just a scrolling large image we have text describing a lot of the key features we are going to see! If you haven’t seen so already fuck reading what I’m saying and go over to: http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/
The first thing I wanted to note was that I thought for sure the JP version of the site would have more content or content sooner but NO! The JP version has less content far less content. A lot of the different areas the site covers says “coming soon!” oh boy do I feel bad for them! Hopefully this shows that the launch will be in the US at the same time as JP if not before! =)
Anyway, the site covers a lot of the key aspects such as: some back story (which of course is just kill kill kill sadly) =/, three city states (Ul’dah, Limsa Lominsa, Gridania), five races (same as before just different names and they have all been tweeted a bit their names are: Elezen, Lalafell, Hyur, Roegadyn, and finally Miqo”te), same old trailer and some NEW screen shots, and then an about which just goes over the people making it etc.
When you are visiting the site make sure you sign up for the news letter, it on the top right and says, “Register Now.”
Take care everyone! Ill let you know if I find anything interesting on the site =)
Final Fantasy XIV (14) Online
by thursdasy on Aug.05, 2009, under Final Fantasy 14, Gaming
So I’m a very big fan of FFXI which is a online MMO version of final fantasy. It’s a lot different from other MMOs mostly because it’s very very hard and you actual feel accomplished at the end of the day when you get something done. The community is also very different than most MMOs. I quit playing for about 7 months once because I was very busy with school and personal projects and when I came back ALL of the people I used to play with still played; the community is very dedicated.
Anyway this post is about FFXIV and I found some photos posted on a forum and for the life of me I cannot find the orignal forum! So if you know which forum this was posted on please leave a comment so I can give the proper credit for this! I think they found it in a magazine in Japan…
Anyway for now I’m heading to bed because I’m sick and need to get as much sleep as possible!! Ill report more about FFIV later =)

The Explorer (Title) World of Warcraft
by thursdasy on Jun.14, 2009, under Gaming, World of warcraft
The Explorer title is something I’ve been wanting to get since its release but haven’t been maxed level thus haven’t really tired for it. (I’ve been busy)!
This “guide” will most liekly expand as I finish my conquest to explore everything. Currently I only have Kalimdor down, which has been very easy. It has taken me about 4-5 hours played to explore all of it. I’m very suprised at how much new stuff I’m finding doing it. I’ve played WoW on and off now since just about release and I’m finding new things all over. I’m not sure if the stuff has been introduced in the past few months / year or so or if I just missed some things. Ether way its not as bad as I thought it would be =D
So the first thing to always have open is the map of the current place you are exploring. Just google when you get there and pull up that map. I have two monitors so it’s easy to play on one and cross check my WoW map with the actual fully explored map. Just stop for a minute and setup a path in your head of which way you are going to go and finish. Once done check to find all of the POI (points of interest) on the map so you know where on the map exactly it’s going to trip the “you have discovered shit river” etc. Spending the extra five minutes to do this will make sure you don’t get lost in your travels and die :p or worst of all end up on the far side of the map and find out you forgot something on the other side. Trust me you wont want to do that in Azshara! =p
Once you have everything planned out go and have fun. Actually keep your eyes open for new things you haven’t seen in the past you will be suprised at how much you find!
Also use these maps, they show the POI that will trigger the finding of the area.

Just search for MapAreaname so for example Tanaris you will search MapTanaris and there you go epic map for your epic adventure! lolol
Happy travels~
VClock (Android App)
by thursdasy on Nov.22, 2008, under Gaming, Programming
So VClock which stands for vanadiel clock is my java based Android application that will display time information about FFXI. This is my first application so its a bit messy and combersom.
So far I’ve got the basics down for it, I got the equation that produces the time offset, and a simple linear layout and that’s about it.
Tomorrow I’m going to work on the moon phase design, right now its displaying the wrong moon information and it isn’t updating properly it seems. I need to check the following variables to make sure mine are the same as the guys JS script I’m using them from:
double optPhase, toNextPhase, toOptimalPhase;
int mnPhase = 0; (This used to be double)
I need to check those with the JS version of the script to make sure all results are the same.
Cheers.
